Just a few months after revealing the redesigned A6, Audi has lifted the wraps off the new A6 Avant. The automaker has a knack for adapting its sedans into attractive wagons, and the 2019 A6 Avant is no exception - it looks absolutely stunning from every angle. Reflecting Audi’s new design language, the elegant wagon incorporates a sloping roofline, a prominent singleframe grille, and more muscular bodywork. LED headlights come as standard, while range-topping variants offer HD Matrix LED headlights with daylight running lights.

Despite the sportier styling, Audi insists that practicality hasn’t been
sacrificed. The exterior measures 16.2 ft long, 6.2 ft wide, and 4.8 ft high,
while the interior is even larger than its predecessor. In the basic
configuration, the new A6 Avant offers 20 cubic feet of luggage capacity and
59.3 cubic feet with the backrests folded down. Inside, the interior has been
mostly carried over from the A6 Avant’s sedan sibling. Models equipped with the
MMI navigation plus system feature a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a
10.1-inch infotainment system and an 8.6-inch lower display for climate control
and convenience features.

Other available comfort options include Valcona leather, open-pore wood trim
and custom contour front seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions.
If you really want to splash out, the S line sport package includes a head-up
display and and a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. Surprisingly, Audi
hasn’t provided any performance specifications, but the engine options should be
the same as the sedan. As such, we can expect the turbocharged 3.0-liter TFSI V6
to carry over, which produces 340 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque, paired
with a seven-speed S tronic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

Zero to 62 mph takes 5.1 seconds in the sedan before hitting a top speed of
155 mph. Audi has confirmed, however, that all models will have mild hybrid
system, which uses a lithium ion battery pack. The 48-volt system also has
regenerative braking, which can recharge up to 12 kilowatts. Details on pricing
and launch dates have yet to be announced. Question is, will the A6 Avant come
to the US? Audi is remaining tight lipped, but the fact that the RS5 Sportback has been confirmed for the US gives
us hope. Wagons are also slowly starting to make a comeback in America with the
recent launch of the Volvo V90 - hopefully this will persuade Audi to finally
give the A6 Avant the green light in the US.
